I, personally, am very annoyed at those who act as though they are living in a fairy tale. For a four-year-old, maybe it's okay. But any child over ten should realize that this is real life, not some Cinderella story.
I mean, even just the basics of a fairy tale will be damaging if you believe them.
You're going to have to work for your Prince Charming, dear. He's not going to come riding out of the hills and sweep your new, shiny, without-a-fingerprint self up into his arms, riding off into the sunset. No, he's going to come up and be searching for a girl he can share his life with, a girl who is not afraid of the world, a girl who knows how to do things and is willing to do them. He may need to look around a little before he notices you. You may actually need to work for his attention. I know how bad that sounds, but it's true.
Just like you need to work for true love. True love doesn't find you, you have to find someone who you truly want to love with all your being, and then learn how to do it together. It's not easy, from what I've heard.
And then don't expect everything to end happily ever after! This is real life.
I'm sure you know what I mean. I don't mean to say that it's not okay to talk about Prince Charming, and I don't want to say that something in a fairy tale will never happen. I'm just saying that when you believe your life will be a fairy tale, it will hurt more than help.
I know, because I used to believe my life would be just like a romantic fairy tale. Now I've come to see that it can be just as romantic, but in a different way, a real life way, where I have to work to make my life better and to make myself a stronger person.

Welcome to posting a comment on my blog; I thank you for clicking here and I'm sure we will be fast friends if we aren't already, since I love people who comment. But I don't really like people who nit-pick my blog. That tends to get nowhere with me except to make me first laugh, then blush, and finally growl. Not to mention it doesn't make the nit-picker look particulary good either. However, if you would really like to nitpick, email me at cierrawrites@gmail.com. I may or may not reply, but I'll always love you since you commented anyway. Alright, comment away!

Good post; quite true. You're so wise, Cierra! I bow to your superior intellect.
ReplyDeleteIt's things like that that could make you
ReplyDeletestop believing in Santa Clause :)
Hmm, that's interesting Earwen. Do you mean that in a good way or a bad way? lol. I hope you're having a good day!! :D You too, Scott!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I meant it in a kidding around but serious way, you know?
ReplyDeleteI do NOT believe in Santa Clause (I'd have problems then... *ahem* MORE problems... XD)
as you full well know, but I do believe more in the romantic, happily-ever=after side of things.
That's my point of view. :)
But I love ya!
How does Scott Free know your real name!?
And, mellon-nin, you give it an awfully harsh view.
ReplyDeleteAre you in a depressed mood?
You okay?
And I had a problem with 'you'll have to work for him to notice you' - not really.
If God brings the man to you, you won't have to try and 'get the guy's attention' - God will bring him to you!
You'll catch the man's eye without your help.
Sorry. :( I might have been a little cranky or depressed when I wrote that. I'm sorry if you thought it was harsh.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wrote, "you may have to work for him to notice you," I meant that you will have to work to make yourself a better person, even if it's for him. If a girl is floating around on her own daydreams all day, who is to say she will act any different after she gets married? A girl needs to make herself the woman she wishes to be (after marriage) now, not later. She needs to mature now, not after the vows. That's what I'm trying to do. Does that make sense?
And again, I'm sorry if I came across mean. >.< I never meant to, and I never meant to offend you. :(
P.S. I told Scott my real name.
*grins*
ReplyDeleteNo, you didn't 'offend' me, I just thought the post gave a 'dark' view on life - a depressing view, if you will. :)
YES, YES YES!
A girl TOTALLY needs to work to be a better person, yesyesyes no arguments there.
It just came across differently ;)
My book is finished (edited and rewritten) at 312 pages, and I'm 7 chapters into my second book. :)
